About Chessschool
Chessschool began when Robbe built a website for a teacher he knows who enjoyed teaching children to play chess.
Why this website exists
The idea is to make the first steps in chess easy to follow: understand one rule, watch an example and try it yourself. Lessons and puzzles do not require an account.
Who makes Chessschool?
Robbe creates and maintains the website. The teacher library follows the original idea: practical material that a teacher or group leader can use with children.
How the content is checked
During maintenance, chess rules are compared with the official rules and concrete exercise positions are checked with chess software where possible. This does not mean every explanation is automatically free of mistakes.
Found an error? Send the page, position and move through the contact form so the example can be checked.
What can you find here?
- Thirteen interactive lessons, from the board to tactics.
- Puzzles with hints and personal mistake reviews.
- A chess bot for complete games.
- Lesson plans and worksheets for clubs and schools.
- Illustrated guides with examples and practice questions.
Sources, privacy and partnerships
Articles include sources where appropriate. See the official FIDE Laws of Chess and our privacy policy. The partner listing in the article library is a reciprocal link arrangement with another chess website; it is not an independent certification.
